Portage Lakes
Just in case Lake Savant’s 90,000 surface acres aren’t enough water for you to fish, we have 3 different lakes you can portage into. Each lake has one 14 ft boat with a 6 hp four-stroke motor. When you portage in, the lake is yours for the day and you are guaranteed to be the only boat on the lake. The length of portages range from 250 yards to a 1/2 mile. All of the portage lakes offer excellent walleye and pike fishing. These lakes are usually only fished a handful of times per year and offer a different type of experience for our more adventurous guests.
If you would like to reserve a portage lake for the day, just let a member of the Wildewood staff know and they will get you a 3 gallon gas can to carry-in. Please bring the gas can back out with you, otherwise, a curious black bear may bite holes in it (believe us, it’s happened before!). Catch and release is highly recommended, and if you choose to keep fish, we only allow conservation limits and no walleyes over 18″ or pike over 27.5′” may be kept to help keep the fishing in these small lakes spectacular for the next guest.
