Bringing your rifle or shotgun into Canada

Effective January 1, 2001, federal firearms regulations require hunters who bring rifles or shotguns into Canada to declare their firearms at their point of entry. A fee is required to complete this procedure; this confirmed declaration is valid for up to 60 days. You may request a firearms declaration form from a customs officer at the Canadian Firearms Centre info line 1-800-731-4000 or go to the Canadian Firearms Center website at
