Do I need a passport to come to Canada and return to the U.S.?
Yes

As a U.S. Citizen, how do I get a passport?
http://travel.state.gov/
Returning to the United States: http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/travel/vacation/

Where should I send my deposit(s)?
Make deposit checks payable to:
"Wildewood on Lake Savant" and mail to:
P.O. Box 276, Boulder Junction, WI 54512
Cash or travelers checks only are accepted for balance due. Personal checks accepted only for deposits.

When is my deposit due?
Your reservation is not confirmed until we have received your deposit.

Do I have to fly into the resort?
No. Our rates include transportation in and out of Wildewood Lodge in our Hagglund ATV that accommodates 17, plus gear. This feature allows you to see the wilderness but more importantly, you save money and you need not rely on the weather. You can arrive and depart regardless of the weather.

Do you have pointers on fishing gear to bring?
Visit our Fishing page page for answers to this and many more trip planning questions.."

How long does it take to drive from International Falls? Thunder Bay?
Give yourself five hours. It may take a little less, a little more.

Can we bring our own bait across the border?
The only live bait allowed across the border: worms in buss bedding, no dirt. No other live bait is allowed.

What if we have an accident and break the motor or prop?
All guests who will be operating the boat and motor will be required to read and check off a boaters safety list that will make them liable for all damages to the motor, boat and prop. Another option is to take out our boat/motor insurance ($50.00/boat). This will cover any damage to the boat or motor that may occur during your stay. PLEASE BOAT RESPONSIBLY!

Is there a place to shop for groceries on the way up or should I shop in         the U.S.?
In Sioux Lookout, the all-new Johnny's Supermarket is your best bet. It's a full-service grocery store with fresh meats, vegetables, bakery, and just about anything you would need. In Dryden and Thunder Bay there are several grocery stores. In Ignace, there is a small IGA. This link may provide helpful information: http://www.ontariotowns.net

Once I get into camp is there any place I can get something I may have         forgotten to bring with me?
No. Wildewood is an outpost camp. However, we do stock some items we find guests need most often (i.e. milk, butter, bread, charcoal, soda, etc.) We usually go to "town" once a week.

What happens if I get sick or hurt while I'm in camp?
There is air ambulance service for the area. We can also arrange for you to fly out early.

What if I need to make a telephone call?
Because of our location, the camp does not have regular phone service; we have a radio phone for emergencies. If you need to make a call, just ask. However, you will be charged for all calls made. Note: mobile phones do not work in our area. Satellite phones will work, if you'd like to bring one.

What if someone back home needs to get in touch with me?
They can call 807-584-2999 and leave a message and we'll leave it on your cabin door.

Will the bugs bug me?
We are in the forest/bush; hence there are bugs. Mostly you will have mosquitoes at dusk (black flies as spring turns to summer and deer/horse flies in summer months). Bring repellant and mosquito coils and you will be okay.

What's the weather like up there?
Our weather is pretty much the same as it is in the northern part of the U.S. You should always bring rain gear and warm clothes, just in case. Layers work best. You may leave in the morning hours when it's cooler, then as the day gets warmer, you may work your way down to a T-shirt. Sunscreen is a great idea also. Check the current weather report for Lake Savant.

What about Hot Dog Night?
We invite all guests in camp to join us on their first night at the lodge for complimentary hot dogs & chips, fishing updates from previous weeks and a brief orientation. It gives everyone a chance to say hello to old friends and meet new ones. We do ask you to bring your own beverage.
